Halifax Industrial Museum

A number of new developments are occurring to and around the Grade 1 Listed Piece Hall in Halifax. We developed ideas to form a new entrance into the Industrial Museum to connect with a new planned pedestrian route into the Piece Hall and new library.
The museum had been closed for some considerable time but with the formation of a new trust and a group of knowledgable and passionate volunteers there was a desire to get the building and it’s fascinating contents back open again for the public to enjoy. The first phase of this, was to support the trust with the design and installation of a new accessible entrance. The design responds to a number of constraints to include changes of level, simplicity of construction method and to maximise a tight budget. The outcome is a simple entrance ramp and balustrade that signals our industrial heritage but also speaks of a new beginning for the museum.
