The proposal to redevelop a former rural pursuit and gun centre to form a new animal rescue and visitor centre, comprising caf\u00e9, shop, kennels, stables, outdoor equestrian arena, a\u00a0 building for storage and ancillary uses such as food preparation, treatment and administration. The main existing building including a former gun shop, link area and 2 storey building will be converted and reused within the proposal. The Yorkshire Arboretum hold a nationally\u00a0important tree collection set out in a Grade I listed landscape in the Howardian Hills in North Yorkshire. The organisation wish to create a new facility related to tree health; to train professionals, provide additional and improved facilities for current staff, alongside improving their current visitor centre facilities. Tree pathology is a significant issue of our time and a skills shortage has been identified.
